Criteria for teaching mathematics
courses:

Language proficiency (as determined by the department chair),

Completion of the teaching seminar (conducted by the Graduate
Advisor),

Completion of 18 semester hours of graduate mathematics courses
(5000 & 6000 level courses).
Criteria for The Graduate Student
Mathematics Teaching Award:

Teaching pedagogy:

Communication skills (talking to the board/class, clustered
board vs. clean, well-managed board),

Organization (delivery of topic: use of motivation,
examples, theory, etc.)

Student Interest: Interested vs. visually bored, Opened text
books vs. Closed/No text books, Active Note taking, Questions given (and
if so, how they were answered)
