| From fall 2003, Tennessee Technological University has been offering academic scholarships to encourage upper division undergraduate and graduate students to pursue degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (CSEM). Partial support for the CSEM Scholars Program is provided by the National Science Foundations' Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship Program under grant DUE-9987137. The CSEM program was authorized by the American Competitiveness and Workforce Improvement Act of 1998 to increase the number of U.S. citizens who graduate in high technology fields. In addition to financial support, students selected as CSEM Scholars will participate in a program that includes mentoring, academic assistance, and career-related experiences. |

Scholarship recipients must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, refugee aliens, or permanent resident aliens, and must demonstrate financial need. U.S. Department of Education criteria for financial need and for Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) are used to determine financial eligibility. In addition, students must reasonably expect to complete a degree in one of the CSEMS fields within four regular semesters. |
